Study on the waste glass bottle replaced the silica raw material in cement ingredient

The increasing amount of waste disposal in Taiwan was getting hard to recycle in past decade. The trend of global cement industry development was getting more waste disposal recycled as the substituted cement raw material and substituted fuel, to overcome the heavy waste disposal problem and to decrease the use of the natural mineral in cement industry. In this study, the waste glass bottle was investigated recycle use in cement raw material replaced the use of silica mineral due to the high SiO2 content. The variation of waste glass bottle chemical component is so low that not to be homogenized when recycle use in cement manufacturing process. The alternative ratios 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% of cement raw material replaced by waste glass bottle were used in this study. The test result of cement chemical component by using waste glass bottle is not difference with control set general cement. However, the alkali content in cement is getting higher when the waste glass bottle reused in cement, result in the lower compressive strength of cement product and burning ability of clinker. The sulfur material used as raw material in this study is used to overcome the high cement alkali content problem. The test result shows the compressive strength is recovered to control set cement when the cement using both waste glass bottle and sulfur raw materials. The other general cement property test results including setting time and autoclave expansion were showed not different between general cement product and the cement by using waste glass bottle.
